The CARES Cohort
Between 2020 and 2022, we recruited 2,455 young adults who are:

Between the ages of 18-30

Living in the United States OR receiving education from a U.S. institution
Participants were asked to complete online surveys once a year over four years. Some participants were additionally asked to complete a brief interview with us so we could better understand their experiences.
The Current CARES Study
Now, four years since the start of the CARES Study, we are launching a follow-up study to gather information on young adults' thoughts, opinions, feelings, and mental health after the 2024 U.S. presidential election. We are currently inviting our previous participants to take part in this follow-up study. All invitations will be sent over email.
The current study involves one 20- to 30-minute online survey.
Participants will receive $10 for their time. This research study was initially funded by the National Science Foundation.
